Additionally, causes, diagnoses, treatments, and medications of disorders common to each body system are studied. Recommended Plan of Study To cover the material in each chapter adequately, I recommend you first read each chapter, highlighting key terms and information. Complete the study guide for each chapter and study from study guide. However, if you are going to rely on the information contained in your study guide, you must be thorough in your answers. You can check your study guide answers against the answer key in the flex lab if you wish. Tests will be matching, true and false, and multiple choice. Tests will include information from the study guide as well as medication information for certain body systems as contained in the pharmacology supplement: “Drug Classifications Per Body System.” Please see your course breakdown for chapters including pharmacology. You will not be responsible for spellings of specific drug names or all drugs listed in the tables. You are only responsible for knowing the drugs listed after DRUGS within each drug classification. These drugs have an asterisk within the table. You will need to know what each type of drug is used for with the body systems and the most commonly prescribed drugs for each body system (see tables in Pharmacology supplement). For example, broad categories of drugs such as the following will be in a matching format on the tests: Erythromycins = are used in treating many infections of the respiratory tract and for skin conditions Antifungals = are used to treat infections caused by susceptible fungi. OPTIONAL STUDY GUIDES FOR EACH CHAPTER ARE AVAILABLE IN THE THIRD DRAWER OF THE STUDENT FILE CABINET IN THE FLEX LAB. Once you complete a study guide, you can check it with an answer key available from the Flex Lab instructors and use it as a study tool for tests. Sample Test Format for Drug portion Drug Categories
In the first blank to the left of each drug category indicate the letter that best matches that category. Also indicate the correct number(s) for drugs used with that drug category ___ 1. Disorders associated with pain, spasm, abnormal contraction or impaired mobility respond to this treatment. DRUGS: MEDICAL DISORDERS & PHARMACOLOGY
