About Cameron Jane Make-up Designery


Welcome to Cameron Jane Make-up Designery (CJMD). CJMD is one of Australia’s leading make-
up schools headed by Director/Principal Cameron-Jane Thomas.
CJMD is situated on Cleveland St, Surry Hills – a ten minute walk from Central Train Station and
local shops. CJMD is equipped with two make-up rooms utilizing both cool and warm lights, as well
as a special effects and prosthetics room.
Regular Make-up Artists and Trainers within CJMD include Anne McKay and Rae Morris. All are
very experienced make-up artists, with a minimum of 10 years experience within the industry. CJMD
also employs other contract trainers to deliver training in specialized areas. These trainers are also
required to have a minimum experience of three years in the industry.
CJMD co-ordinates and generates work experience and class schedules for students at the school,
and also organizes paid work for students and make-up artists who are listed with the Cameron’s
Angels Agency. In addition to this, CJMD makes available the services of industry photographers for
students to use to compile an up-to-date, professional portfolio of their work. This allows the
students to leave CJMD ready to step straight into the industry.

for students and staff. Following these school policies and procedures ensures a successful
relationship between trainers, students and other staff members of CJMD, which enables you to
achieve your goals.
Please ensure that you have read and understood all information included in this booklet as it
provides you with valuable information required for a successful learning experience within CJMD. If
you have any queries regarding any information covered within this booklet, please address your
concerns with either your trainer, the Deputy Principal or the Principal.
Career Opportunities
Information for career planning and job seeking is always available from any staff member. CJMD
recognizes that everyone needs to have an array of skills to suit a variety of applications. This
course is designed to encourage our students to take full advantage of their training with us and to
focus their energy in a chosen area of expertise. Because such a significant percentage of our
students find employment, CJMD is determined to continually maintain these high levels of
opportunity.
Student Selection, Enrolment & Induction Procedures

Enrolment Requirement
Participants wishing to apply for enrolment with CJMD will need to have passed a minimum of Year
10 Secondary Education or higher, a recognized equivalent or relevant industry experience. A firm
verbal and written understanding and comprehension of the English language is required and all
applicants will be asked to confirm their skill levels via the application form.
Enrolment Procedure
CJMD use a standard enrolment form that requires the signature of the participant who is responsible
for the funding of the course. A written undertaking to pay the course fees and any course materials
will confirm the participant’s acceptance into the course.
Participants wishing to apply for enrolment with CJMD will undergo an initial interview with the
Principal or Deputy Principal to determine their goals and to ensure that our services will provide
guidance to achievement of that goal. Participants will then be notified of the outcome, usually within
one week of the initial interview and assessment.
Induction & Orientation Procedures
On the first day of the course, all students will undergo an induction and orientation process. This
will cover all the information provided in this booklet, as well as relevant government legislations and
regulations. Also, students will have a tour of the premises with introductions to all relevant staff at
CJMD.
During this induction process, students are required to sign conformation of their knowledge and
understanding of the CJMD policies and procedures. This will be collected by your trainer and
returned to Administration who will maintain a copy of this agreement in your student file. If you
require a copy of this agreement, please ask the Deputy Principal.

Student Support

All CJMD staff members are here to provide support to students including training, work experience
and job seeking. CJMD staff consists of full-time administrative and teaching staff, contracted
external trainers and guest industry presenters. If there are any special requirements needed please
see the Deputy Principal to ensure that they are provided for.
Course Information

All course information is contained in the Course Information Pack provided on your application to
CJMD. The course information pack provides information on course content, fees and charges,
regulatory and legal requirements.
Competency Based Training

Competency Based Training (BCT): This term refers to a form of training where the focus is on
assisting learner to develop competence in a field of study. This competence is developed to meet
industry/professional/enterprise standards.
At the end of the CBT program, the learner’s performance is assessed against the specific
standards, ie: the Performance Criteria embedded in the Units of Competence (subjects and
modules).
To satisfy the Performance Criteria, practical activities, written knowledge tasks and assignments
detailed in your Trainers Guide will be completed and assessed.
You need to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and attitudes to your assessor to gain competency
in any unit.
Assessment Outcomes: Learners who demonstrated competency in the learning objectives
covered can achieve the following outcomes:
C meaning Competent. To achieve the qualification, learners must have a Competent for all their
assessments.
NYC meaning Not Yet Competent. If students are assessed as Not yet Competent they will be
given feedback and asked to resubmit the assignment with revision.
NYC meaning Not yet Complete. Only parts of a module have been submitted for assessment, still
to complete the module.
RPL - Recognition of Prior Learning. Acknowledgement of skills and knowledge achieved by
formal training, work experience and/or life experience.
CT - Credit Transfer. Recognition of competency achieved for the same code number in the same
or equivalent qualification achieved at another Registered Training Organisation.

Fees & Charges

Course Fees
The actual costs of training are monitored on a regular basis taking into account trainer wages,
material costs, current market trends in employment and employer requirements, CPI, equivalent
competitor price structures against perceived competitor success rates. It is important to CJMD to
keep our prices both affordable and reasonable in order to maximize both public and industry access.
Financial Policy
CJMD reserves the right to refuse the continuation of enrolment if fees are not paid by the due date
or unless suitable arrangements have been made. CJMD reserves the right to defer final
assessment and therefore the issuance of qualifications, until the outstanding amounts are settled.
All fees must be paid in advance, unless other arrangements have been made, in which case Direct
Debit will be used. Payment for materials, photos, and any other consumables is required before
items are released.
If your fees are not paid by the due date, you will be charged an extra 10% per week, each week the
fees are overdue. For example, if your weekly fee is $144 and you are –

If permission is given for a course deferment (see General Information - Deferment below) fees must
be paid by the course’s original due date, or if installments arrangements are made, direct debit
payments will apply in line with the original installment schedule.
Refund Policy
The deposit is part of the total course cost. The deposit is refundable up until three weeks prior to
the course start date, after which it is not refundable.
It a student withdraws from the course within the three weeks prior to the course start date or within
two weeks after commencement, the deposit is non-refundable, however any further pre-paid course
fees will be refunded.
If a student withdraws from the course later than two weeks after commencement of the course, then
the student is required to pay any fees owing for the total course cost. No pre-paid fees will be
refunded to the student, except under special circumstances, which must be stated in writing and will
need to be considered by the Principal and/or Deputy Principal. This decision is at the discretion of
the Principal and/or Deputy Principal.
In the event that CJMD is unable to fulfill its contract with the student then CJMD will refund the
student the portion of fees paid by the student for which services were not received.
All refund claims will be paid out to the student within two weeks from the date of approval by CJMD.
Flexible Learning & Assessment Procedures

During the training course, trainers will use a range of training methods to ensure variety and provide
different ways of learning. Training methods used may include demonstration, research, group
activities, role plays, practical, theory, observation, etc. If at any time, a student feels their learning
needs are not being met, please approach your trainer, Deputy Principal or Principal immediately.

Student’s progress is continually assessed throughout the course. This assessment is based on
your demonstrated ability to achieve course objectives. A variety of assessment techniques are used
ranging from formal testing and/or examinations to observation of student participation that will be
specifically relevant to the stated outcomes of the program. Assessment forms include project
assessment, self-assessment and on-the-job assessment. If you have any queries about the nature
of these assessments, please approach either your trainer or the Principal.
Typically, students should expect to be assessed on a regular and on-going basis throughout the
course. Students will be informed of all assessment requirements at the beginning of each module.
Before you begin any assessment item or task, your trainer will explain the context and process of
that particular assessment. If you are unsure of what is required of you, please consult your trainer
as soon as possible to ensure an effective assessment procedure.
All CJMD assessment items have been developed to be equitable for all people, taking account of
cultural and linguistic needs. If you have valid cultural and linguistic needs, please consult your
trainer as soon as possible to ensure an effective assessment procedure.
General Information

Student Records
All student information is maintained in confidence and in accordance with the Privacy Act. Student
records are not available to third parties without the prior written consent of the student. All students
have access to their own records through the Principal or Deputy Principal upon request.
Issuance of Qualifications
When a student has successful completed the required units they will be given a Certificate or
Statement of Attainment containing all the unit titles and codes. The Certificate will incorporate the
official Nationally Recognised Training logo. Should a student not complete the full program, they
will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in order to recognize the portion(s) of the training
program they have successfully completed.
Deferment
A course deferment may be given in special circumstances. Written applications should be
addressed to the Principal who will assess the request on the basis of the reason(s) for deferment,
consultation with the students’ trainers and any other relevant organizational and industry
considerations (refer to Fees and Charges section above).
CJMD Trainers and Guest Industry Professionals
All trainers at CJMD are selected specifically for their expertise in the delivery of training in their
areas of technical knowledge and experience, and will have a qualification of an equivalent or higher
level relevant to the module/content taught and a minimum of three years of recent industry
experience. CJMD staff must also have a high standard of communication skills, (interpersonal, oral
and written) and personal presentation appropriate to the standards set by the industry.
An in-house induction program for the staff allows for the verification of their skills in delivering and
assessing competency-based training and ensures that the set standards are maintained.
Regular review of delivery and assessment modes ensures that the specifications of the curriculum
are met and that the methodology is relevant. Industry experience and opportunities for professional
development are monitored and trainers are required to upgrade their technical and training skills as
appropriate to the needs of the students or for their personal growth.
Staff performance is regularly appraised by student feedback, self-assessment, observation by and
personal discussion with the Principal.

Code of practice that follows as part of this booklet. The CJMD Code of Practice was adopted from
the standards set down by NSW training bodies. Although we display our Code throughout the
academy, we consider it important that each trainee receives a copy as it also outlines our
responsibilities to you.
Occupational Health & Safety
Current Commonwealth and State legal and regulatory requirements for occupational health and
safety state that CJMD must prepare and bring to the notice of its employees a written statement of
its arrangements, practices and procedures at the workplace for protecting the health and safety of
employees.
We recognize our obligation to take all practicable action to safeguard the health and safety of our
students and trainers while in the workplace.
We undertake to:-
• Provide and maintain machines and equipment in a safe working condition. • Instruct students and staff in safe working practices. • Investigate any possible safety or health risks. • Provide proper medical, health and first aid services as required by regulations made • Keep proper control of noise, any chemicals, fumes and harmful materials. • Investigate any accidents and their causes. • Take measures to minimize the risk and harmful effects of fire or explosion. • Ensure safe work practices, keeping workplace neat and safe. • Always adhere to personal safety and cleansing procedures. • Don’t take chances; avoid risks early and work safely. • Before starting a new project, be sure you know how to do it safely by consulting your supervisor and/or following instructions. • If you notice possible risks to safety or health, tell your supervisor. • If you see a way to improve safety, tell your supervisor. • Do not interfere with equipment guards or remove them unless it is part of your duty to do so in the course of maintenance or repair. • Use the protective equipment provided for your use.
Grievances, Complaints & Appeals

If a complaint is made by a student, trainer or other client of CJMD there is a process in place that
must be followed in order to allow effective resolution of the matter.
The complainant must first and foremost direct their grievance or complaint to a member of This member of CJMD staff will attempt immediate resolution of the matter, if appropriate. This member of staff will complete a Grievance Form (available from front office). This will then be reported to and discussed with the Principal and/or Deputy Principal. If further action is required it will be at the Principal and/or Deputy Principal’s discretion, for the best interests of all parties involved as swiftly and effectively as possible. The Principal and/or Deputy Principal will first attempt resolution of the matter. If resolution is not reached, a meeting will be arranged between all parties and an independent CJMD representative who has no connection with the appeal. If appropriate, a representative from our local ITAB may be present at the meeting. All relevant parties will be notified prior to the meeting of the date, time and venue. Minutes will be taken of the meeting and the meeting will include: A brief summary of the appeal by the independent representative of CJMD. The appellant will then present their case clarifying any issues as they arise. Question may be asked to either provide more information, or clarify further matters The appellant will have had every opportunity to present their case and prove all supporting A decision will either be given at the meeting or discusses further if necessary. The independent CJMD representative will present the outcome and reasons in a formal
Disciplinary Procedures

Following the Grievance, Complaints and Appeals Policy, if a complaint is such that it is deemed
necessary to enforce disciplinary procedures for a student, the following steps may be undertaken:-
• A reprimand (supported by a written warning). • Suspension of the right to use any facility or service provided by CJMD. • Deferment of assignment or research assignment whilst on suspension. • Exclusion of the student from any work experience. • Exclusion of the student from any assistant work with industry professionals. • Prohibition from entering the CJMD premises or a specified part of the premises.
The Principal and/or Deputy Principal will decide on all suspensions, exclusions and deferment of
activities. The Principal and/or Deputy Principal will also establish the length of time the disciplinary
action will be in force.
Where a situation remains unresolved, the Principal and/or Deputy Principal have the right to decide
on the expulsion of the student. This means the cancellation of enrolment of the student and
termination of all rights and privileges as a student of CJMD, including the right to enter or be on the
premises.
Student Behaviour

CJMD is a professional business that trains its students in a range of skills it deems essential for the
workplace, and we believe it is important for you to have an opportunity to practice these standards.
It is expected students adopt the same work ethic, conduct and dress which is applied in the
workplace.
To reinforce these key work standards, which will help you to develop and maintain professionalism,
we request that you treat the academy as a place of work and apply these policy requirements on a
daily basis. This policy will be beneficial to both you and CJMD in creating a positive and co-
operative work environment. If you are unsure of any of the following policy details please feel free
to discuss them with your Trainer, Deputy Principal or the Principal.
Dress, Footwear & Personal Hygiene
CJMD requires all students to wear either black or neutral colours during training and any work
experience. T-Shirts and hats are supplied by the Academy and are charged to the student as
material costs. It is a requirement that Academy T-shirts and hats are worn on work experience or to

other industry related events outside the Academy, with black or neutral pants or skirt. We feel it is
important to enhance the Academy’s image and profile as well as instill pride in our students.
Clothes should be clean, ironed and without holes or tears. Students need to maintain their
grooming and clothing to a reasonable standard; neat clean attire required along with an acceptable
level of personal hygiene. The following are not considered appropriate attire – track pants; singlet
or midriff tops; mini skirts; etc. Students not adhering to this philosophy will be requested to leave
class to change their clothes.
AT ALL TIMES while attending or working for CJMD, appropriate footwear is to be worn. This means
a FULLY COVERED SHOE with a rubber sole. Thongs, ‘slip-ons’, ugh boots, mules are not
appropriate footwear and you will be excluded from class, work experience or assistant jobs.
Industry Standards
It is not considered appropriate industry behaviour to consume alcohol, recreational drugs, smoke or
chew gum. This behaviour is not permitted at the training premises, on-the-job training or work
experience.
Smoking is permitted outside the building only.
Where students are on work experience or assisting with industry professionals on behalf of CJMD,
that student may not approach a client for further work arrangements or distribute personal business
cards without permission of the Principal of CJMD. When students are on such work projects they
are representatives of CJMD, and are therefore not self-represented. While on such jobs, students
may distribute CJMD business cards, writing their own name on the back.
Punctuality & Course Attendance
All units comprising the entirety of your course must be attended and completed before your
qualifications can be issued. You are also required to practice outside of class and to undertake all
associated work for each unit of the course.
If is expected that you are punctual in your attendance for every day of the program. You are also
expected to return from lunch and tea breaks at the designated times. If you are more than 15 mins
late for class, we may ask you to leave if your lateness affects the class structure.
To avoid discrepancies in record keeping and for students’ resumes, we ask that students keep track
of their lateness, absences and work experience. If a student misses class, it is their responsibility to
catch up. Students will need to check the class board, located in the office, to see if another class is
scheduled covering the missed lesson and make arrangements to attend that class. If in doubt,
clarify with your trainer, the Deputy Principle or the Principle.
Absenteeism
To get the most from your training, it is assumed you will attend all components of the course. If you
are going to be late or absent, you must advise your trainer by phoning the school in plenty of time
before your class commences. Continuous lateness or absenteeism will result in non-accreditation.
A medical certificate must accompany any absence of more than one day. CJMD requires the
student to advise of any absences from the course as soon as possible. Attendance and punctuality
records are maintained and the students are advised that it is in their own interests to establish good
workplace habits.
Personal Conduct
All staff and students attending CJMD should expect and be treated with courtesy and respect. The
following behaviour is unacceptable whilst in attendance:
• Non-consideration for other user groups. • Sexual harassment (defined by Federal and State Law as an unwelcome sexual attention). • Verbal abuse; obscene verbal or body language. • Discrimination on the grounds of age, gender, marital status, pregnancy, sexuality, religion, race, physical or intellectual impairment. • Intoxication by, or the possession of, alcohol or recreational drugs.
Students and trainers should report any instance of this behaviour immediately. If any of the above
behaviour is demonstrated, appropriate action will be taken, including the possibility of dismissal.
Housekeeping
Tea and coffee making facilities are provided, however the kitchen must be kept clean and hygienic
at all times. Therefore it is the responsibility of the individual to dispose of rubbish; and of the group
to maintain a clean training environment. This includes:
• Food or drink to be consumed only during breaks and in designated areas. • All cleaning duties to be delegated by the [Acting] Head Make-up Artist and carried out by

Belongings left on the premises are done so at the student’s risk. Lockers are available for rent for
personal belongings and training materials. Please see the front desk to arrange your locker.
The NSW Health Regulations state that no person shall dispose of medicines by gift or barter,
therefore CJMD is unable to give medicines to students for any reason. This includes aspirin and
other pain relieving preparations, so students will need to provide their own.
Any student found to be engaging in illegal or disreputable activities during class time or when
representing CJMD will be instantly dismissed from the academy without further consideration. Acts
that are deemed to be lowering the standard and reputation of CJMD and its students or staff will
also result in dismissal.
Storeroom
At no time is a student to enter the storeroom without a member of CJMD staff. The [Acting] Head
Make-up Artist will assist the trainer in retrieving and returning items to the storeroom. No student is
to store any items in the storeroom. Any student leaving any personal items or make-up equipment
at CJMD outside of their locker does so at their own risk.
Make-up Artist tools & equipment
As a make-up artist, you should always have a fully stocked kit and be self-sufficient. The same
should apply during class times. Students are to come to every class equipped with the following as
part of their working make-up kit; at least two clean hand towels (washed daily), tissues and wet
ones, cotton buds, cleanser, toner and moisturizer.

Student Personal Details

Students are required to notify CJMD of any change to personal details such as name, address,
phone numbers, and availability for employment/work experience. You must also provide us with the
name, address, phone number and position in any current employment.
Provision of Language, Literacy & Numeracy Assessment (LL&N)

Most assessment within CJMD is practical; however there are a number of written assessments and
research assignments. In these cases, every effort will be made to ensure that all students have
equal understanding of these assessments.
Take the existing LL&N skills into account for training and assessment Make sure they communicate effectively during training Give students the opportunity to develop the speaking, listening, reading, writing and mathematical skills they need on the job Provide appropriate assessment for the task, which may include alternative to reading and Make sure that the assessment does not involve a higher level of LL&N skills than the tasks
If, for any reason, a student needs to seek assistance with language, literacy or numeracy, CJMD
staff will make the necessary arrangements to provide for the student’s requirements.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
CJMD permits credit and status for those applicants who have completed competencies through
other colleges and schools in Australia or overseas, or have achieved a level of competency through
other means such as personal experience, work experience, or apprenticeships. RPL acknowledges
what the student has already learned:
From other formal studies From community involvement (volunteering or paid position) From work experience as part of another course From a present or previous job Through life experience
A panel of qualified trainers will thoroughly assess applications and decide whether previous
work/study is relevant and current to the course. The approved NTQC Training Package Support
resource – Recognition of Prior Learning – your First Step is used by the panel to implement flexible
and student friendly approaches to RPL.
CJMD will accept a maximum of 30% of the course in RPL’s. RPL can be applied for at any time
during the course, your trainer, the Deputy Principal or Principal can assist.
Recognition of Qualifications issued by other RTOs

Students can also apply for Credit Transfer (CT) by providing a certified copy of an Academic
Transcript of successfully completed units of competency from a National Training Package matching
those in the course. CJMD acknowledges its mutual recognition obligations to recognise and give
CT for the AQF qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by any other Registered Training
Organisation (RTO).
In any determinations for recognition of qualifications issued by other registered training
organizations, CJMD reserves the right to ensure that the skills detailed are current and the right to
contact the issuing RTO for confirmation and/or clarification of details provided.
CT can be applied for at any time during the course, your trainer, the Deputy Principal or Principal
can assist.

Access & Equity

All CJMD staff and students undertake an induction process that includes the understanding of all
CJMD policies and procedures. It is the responsibility of all CJMD staff to conduct themselves in a
manner that reflects these principles.
Access and Equity Policies are incorporated into all CJMD procedures. CJMD prohibits
discrimination towards any group or individuals in any form, inclusive of gender, pregnancy, race,
colour, nationality, ethnic or religious background; marital status, physical or intellectual or psychiatric
disability, homosexuality (Male or female, actual or presumed), age.
To facilitate successful course completion, a certified English language qualification is required for
any ‘English as a second language’ or a “Non-English speaking background ’ student wishing to
study in an Australian Government certified course.
Welfare & Guidance Services
Your Principal, Deputy Principal and trainers can provide you with information on welfare and
guidance services if required. Career guidance can be discussed with your trainers, Deputy Principal
and the Principal at any time. Please feel free to approach any CJMD staff in relation to this matter.
Training Hours
Full time student hours are from 8.30am to 1.00pm or 1.00pm to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday; or
Monday and Tuesday 6 pm to 9 pm and Saturday 8.30 am to 6 pm. Average training hours per week
are 24 hours. Part time student hours are 6.00pm to 9.00pm on two scheduled weekday evenings
per week. Average training hours per week are 6 hours.
Office hours are from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Facilities and equipment are available
during these hours subject to timetable allowances.
Missing or Re-sitting an Assessment

Students who miss an assessment, or are deemed Not Yet Competent must apply to the Principal
and/or Deputy Principal to be re-assessed. A doctor’s certificate must be provided if the missed
assessment was due to illness.
Once this application has been reviewed the student will be notified of an appropriate time for the
assessment. A fee is charged for this service and must be paid prior to the assessment.
Head Make-up Artist

To help you achieve the competencies for some modules all students will have an opportunity to be
Head Make-up Artist. CJMD has a system where a student will act as Head Make-up Artist and be in
charge of the group for a week at a time. You will be given more detail on the role and your
responsibilities in class. This will assist you in developing your team skills and learning what
responsibilities will be required of you in the workplace. We expect that you consider this role as a
serious part of your learning and it will be part of the assessment criteria.

Terms & Conditions
A student may qualify for accreditation based on enrolment, attendance and satisfactory assessment.
The final determinations of a student’s qualification for the accreditation shall be entirely at the
discretion of the Principal and CJMD staff. In the exercise of its discretion the Principal and CJMD
staff will have considered the following:
a) Whether in the opinion of the Principal and CJMD staff, academic and technical skills have been obtained to a satisfactory degree; b) Whether in the opinion of the principal and CJMD staff a student will be a suitable member of the industry (and in this the Principal and CJMD staff shall have specific consideration to the student’s behaviour and character); c) Whether all academic, practical, administrative and financial obligations to CJMD d) A student’s right of appeal to the Principal and CJMD staff.
A student shall have a right of appeal against a decision of the Principal and CJMD staff not to award
him or her accreditation and such right must be exercised within seven (7) days of suspension or
expulsion.
A student may be suspended or expelled from CJMD at any time and the determination to suspend
or expel shall be at the absolute discretion of the Principal. In the exercise of its discretion, the
Principal and CJMD staff will consider the following:
a) Whether all fees have been paid up to date; b) Whether the student has upheld and maintained the rules and regulations as set out in the CJMD Student Policies and Procedures booklet; c) Whether the student has engaged in misconduct; d) A student’s right of appeal to the Principal and CJMD staff.
CJMD reserves the right to alter any information included in this booklet, or any other document
CJMD may publish from time to time including course information, course, offerings, prices and terms
and conditions.

students have, we almost always have work experience available for students. This work experience
is usually unpaid; however you reap the benefits of industry experience and contacts, which are
invaluable to your training and success. We have many regular clients who call us on short notice
requiring one or more students for a job that afternoon, the next day, week, etc. Due to the dynamic
nature of the industry, we will sometimes only have a short space of time to fill these positions.
Most work experience is on a ‘first in, best placed’ basis. However we will often also allocate work
experience to the student we feel is best suited to the particular job. When considering this, we take
into account the following:
Your skills and knowledge in the relevant area required for the production; Your punctuality and attendance; Your willingness to participate in work experience; Your previous work experience; Any feedback received from clients and industry professionals; Any other contributing factors such as transport, age, experience and availability.
You will be required to keep a diary of your work experience as this is used later and included in your
resume when approaching clients for paid work or assisting jobs. It is also important to ensure you
keep an accurate record of any classes missed so you can catch up missed topics and/or
assessments with other classes.
Students should be aware that is it a requirement of CJMD that you complete a minimum of 90 hours
work experience to be considered competent in your chosen qualification. Naturally, it is beneficial
for you to complete as much work experience as you can to increase your range of knowledge, skills
and to better your chances for success in the industry.
Most of our students have gained paid work through contacts and experience gained through work
experience, so we encourage you to make the most of the opportunities we provide.
