Calendar of upcoming events

As we begin a season where there is the potential inclement weather and
hazardous road conditions, please remember that we will use Alert Now to notify
you of school closings. We monitor weather and road conditions very closely
and do our best to keep our families safe without unnecessary closing which
might result in make-up days later. We do not follow the county schedule
because our students to not use bus transportation. However, if you ever feel
that you do not feel safe driving, we fully approve of the right of parents to make
their own call about attendance on days like today, especially if you live far away.
In the event that we need to dismiss before tonight’s Student Council Movie
Game Night,
we will notify you of a make up date, TBD. We will hold the money
paid and send out a new permission form, asking parents to approve of the new
date. Money will be returned to students who choose not to attend on the make
up date.


: State regulations require that all Capital Day students have a current
physical, a copy of a legal birth certificate and an up-to-date immunization record
on file at the school. You have two weeks to provide an updated immunization
record once it expires. If we do not receive the updated record after the two
weeks, you will receive a letter stating that your child is not allowed to return to
school until an updated immunization record is provided.

Sick Policy: Children who have had a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting should be
symptom free for 24 hours without medication (ibuprofen, acetaminophen,
imodium, etc.) before returning to school. If a child develops these symptoms
after arriving at school, the child will be isolated and the parent notified to pick up
the child. When children return to school, they will need to be able to follow the
daily routine with their class.
All students should be well enough to participate in recess and enrichment
classes before returning to school.


All students should be at school no later than 7:50 a.m. in order to have time to
prepare for the day, so please make every effort to have your child here on time.
Also keep in mind that the earliest students can arrive is 7:15 a.m.; there is no
supervision available before then.

The Holiday Sing is on December 9th at Western Hills High School. We will have
two performances with a 15 minute intermission in between. Having two
performances should help with crowd control, make more seats available, and
allow the younger kids to leave earlier.
Performance one is for Preschool through 1st grade, from 6:30-6:45 p.m.
Students need to arrive by 6:15 p.m. Performance two is for grades 2nd-8th, from
7:00-7:30 p.m. Students need to arrive by 6:45 p.m.
All students should wear something festive. The 5th grade class (only) should
wear a white blouse or shirt, and black pants or skirts. Middle school girls should
wear pants or leggings under a skirt.
We ask that the audience remain seated during student performances.

December 9th – Holiday Bake Sale: Student Council members have planned a
bake sale in conjunction with the Holiday Sing. A variety of baked goods will be
available with proceeds benefitting God’s Pantry.
December 13th – Middle School Ice Skating Event
: Student Council sponsored
skating event for Middle School students (5th – 8th Grade) will be from 5:30-7:45
p.m. at the Lexington Ice Center, 560 Eureka Springs Dr., Lexington. Chaperones,
Mr. Mathews and Mrs. Murphy will arrive at 5:15 p.m. Parents will need to make
transportation arrangements. Students need to bring $10.00 to cover the cost of
admission and skate rental. Extra cash will be needed if they choose to purchase

The Middle School Chorus elective class will be performing on Wednesday,
December 11th and Thursday, December 12th @ 8:15 a.m. in the Multi-purpose
room. Students have been studying Renaissance music and culture. The
program will include: jugglers, acrobats, singers, recorders and guitar music,
and a puppet show. Everyone is invited.

CDS archery students participated in the Fayette County Turkey Shoot on
November 23rd. We want to congratulate our team for their achievements! The
scores are: Carter Barnes 185; Laura Bennett 223; Harper Heffley 64; Jill Jacobs
152; Lauren Kiser 179; Jack Lynch 173; Emery Moore 161; Olivia Moore 190;
Isabella Steely 132.

Please remember that all school invoices have a due date of the 20th of each
month. Any unpaid balance remaining after the 20th will be subject to a
late charge of 1.5% per month. Please be aware that December 20th is the last
day of school before the Holiday Break. Mail will not be received over the break.
If you plan to mail your payment, please
mail it in plenty of time to be received by
the school before December 20th.


Box Tops:

Each Box Top earns the school 10 cents. Our goal this year is to reach $850. We make two submissions during the year; the first is in October and the second is in March. You can find Box Tops on products such as Betty Crocker, General Mills, Kleenex, Pillsbury, Land of Lakes, Ziploc, and so many more. Check out for a complete list of products. Ink Cartridge Recyling:

The ink cartridge recycling program is still ongoing. If you have empty ink and toner cartridges and old phones, you can send them to the school. We earn money for each item we collect. The following link lists qualifying items:
